Flowers for Mommy

Well, the brooch for my mommy on her birthday is a no go. When I went shopping to buy her one, there is none that I felt I would wear let alone her. There were lots of this very brightly coloured ones that looks nice from afar but upon closer inspection, the stones or designs that looked good from afar, looked gaudy up close. There wasn't that many selection to begin with anyways. This is what happens when you find your mom's present at the very last minute. Well, as it happens I did not find it. The whole department store did not store any brooches I felt my mom would like.
I had earlier decided to buy her flowers to go with the brooch. As the brooch is a no show, the flowers got bigger and stood in a basket. I think it turned out quite well. As usual, the florists would always recommend roses to go with everything. I decided against that and requested for tiger lilies (mommy's favourite flower) and daisies. I think the white and the pink is a nice contrast. Pink is actually one of my favourite colour, not really my mom's, but as I was buying the flower, I can't help but be drawn to that colour combination. Sorry, mommy. Your daughter buys flowers for you but she added her touch of liking into it.
Ohh... without the brooch, I got my mom two flowery mugs that she has been eyeing while shopping with me but stopped herself from buying as she thinks she already has enough mugs to fill her adorning cupboards. I, however, without the brooch had no other alternative, and so, the mug is now crowding my mom's cupboard.
Mrs. Labu and I also had the chance to meet up with Mrs. Linda this week. The latter came down for a seminar and Mrs. Labu and I took the chance to meet up with her at her hotel. It has actually been more that 1 year that we have not seen Mrs. Linda. Her baby boy is now a toddler. The last I saw him, Mrs. Linda just gave birth and he was still soo small. He now has a cheeky grin on his face and kept edging Mrs. Linda to 'jalan... jalan...'
Mrs. Labu's baby has also grown. The last I saw him which I don't think was even 2 months ago, he was sleeping and he looked small. Now, he looks so strappingly tall. I also have to add this, he is the nicest baby ever. That night that Mrs. Labu and I met up with Mrs. Linda, it was way passed his bedtime, but he wasn't even making any noise let alone disturb his mommy who was talking to her old friend. He was just the sweetest baby. It was also easy to carry him. Mind you, I am not the bestest candidate to hold a baby, but with him, it was so easy.
Actually, I think that all my friends are gifted with sweet babies.
Mrs. Pram's baby was once rocked by me to sleep and she actually feel asleep. I also did a little humming when I rocked her. On retrospect, luckily she did not cry even louder, with the humming that I was doing.
I also looked after Madam Tai Tai's daughter for a brief moment, and she did not cry or run away from me when I was running after her and prohibiting her from picking stuffs from the floor and putting it into her mouth.
More and more friends around me are getting preggers. I also hope that they would be blessed with sweetest babies. Would be easier for me (and for them) when for that slightest brief moment in their lives, they have to be alone with me.

Hazy Days Bright Days

There used to be a time when I had flu and 2-3 days of antibiotics plus flu medicine would be all that it takes to make me well and kicking again. However, that has all changed since the adding of age digits and the decidedly no exercise implemented into my daily routine.
I have had this blasted flu since February and last Saturday, after sending my mom to cast her vote, I went to visit my merry doctor again. Complaining that the last medicine the clinic gave me about 2 weeks ago did not work its magic. This time, the merry doctor gave me tablets for cough, instead of the syrupy version of it and different flu tablets and also something to thin my phlegm. Luckily this time, I can feel the flu receding and the cough slowly leaving my throat. However, the operating word here is "SLOWLY". The speed is still not up to the one I am used to.
As such, I have decided to do something proactive about my situation of sluggishness and slow operating system for the internal organs.
'SOMETHING PROACTIVE' SOLUTION: I WILL START EXERCISING.
I, however have not decided on the form of exercise yet. Either the yoga, pilates or swimming or jogging or what not. Actually, might be trying all of it. Trying to be slightly ambitious here but I do really need to see healthy changes to my body. I need to see the bright days again.
On a different note, it's March already. It's my mom's birthday. Will get her something really nice this year. Methink she's lost a brooch recently. Methink that would be my gift for her this year.

Swollen the eye

I have no idea how I managed it but I woke up this morning with a swollen right upper eyelid. It doesn't feel itchy, painful or anything else and I woke up feeling nothing weird with the right eye. However, upon close inspection while brushing my teeth, I realised that my right upper eyelid looks odd. It looks larger and swollen than the left one. Panic started, I was afraid that I might have an allergic reaction to something that I used that night. I was using a new facial cleanser.
As my mom was at home, easiest solution would always be (for me) to run to my mom for an immediate solution. Nothing like a little injury or some unsolved mystery, like my suddenly swollen right upper eyelid, turning you into a little kid and go crying to mommy for a solution.
And mommy always have a solution to any problem.
True enough, my mom said that some bug or an ant managed to sneak to my eye and bit it. I have no idea why this particular bug goes straight to the eye, there are other parts of my body that is easier to reach. Anyways, my mom also mentioned that by afternoon, the swollen of the eyelid should subside.
And she was right.
I hope I can be this precise when I am a mom. Please bestow me all the knowledge, instinct, sixth sense and everything else that a mommy would need in dealing with the mysteries of the unknown.
